Here are some advanced SEO techniques you may consider learning and implementing:

Structured Data (Schema Markup): Learn how to use structured data to help search engines understand your content better. Schema markup can significantly improve your visibility on SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) by enabling rich snippets, like reviews, recipes, or product data.

Advanced Keyword Research: Go beyond generic keyword research tools. Learn how to use tools like Answer the Public or AlsoAsked which can provide more insights into what your audience is looking for. Use these tools to find long-tail keywords and topics that can be used for content generation. Learn about semantic SEO, which involves optimizing around topics, not just individual keywords.

Content Cluster Strategy: Develop an SEO strategy based on content clusters or "pillar" and "cluster" model. This can increase domain authority by focusing on the breadth and depth of content around a specific topic, making your site more authoritative in the eyes of Google.

SEO A/B Testing: To refine your SEO strategy, learn to conduct SEO A/B testing. There are a number of tools, including Google's Tag Manager, which can be utilized for this.

Log File Analysis: Log file analysis can help you understand how search engines interact with your site. You may find broken links or discover that some pages are not being crawled at all - both important things to fix.

Competitor Backlink Analysis: Learn how to analyze the backlink profiles of your competitors. This can give you insights into what they're doing that you can emulate for your own SEO strategies.

Page Speed and Core Web Vitals Optimization: Page speed is a strong ranking factor for Google. Learn how to optimize your site's speed and the user experience with Google's Core Web Vitals.

Voice Search SEO: As voice search is becoming more popular thanks to smart devices, optimizing your content for voice search is becoming increasingly critical.

Video SEO: Video content is more popular than ever and shows no sign of slowing down. Learn how to optimize your video content to appear in search engine results.

Server Optimization: Familiarize yourself with HTTP/2, preloading, lazy-loading, server push etc. Understanding the server-side of SEO can be beneficial, especially for larger websites.

Mobile SEO: With the move to mobile-first indexing, it's essential to ensure your website is fully optimized for mobile. This includes responsive design, optimizing for speed on mobile devices, and making sure the mobile version of your site has the same quality content as the desktop version.

AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages): Implementing AMP can help improve your site's mobile performance, which may have an impact on mobile search rankings.

International SEO: If your audience is global, understanding international SEO is crucial. This includes understanding hreflang tags, geotargeting settings, and creating content that's localized for different regions and languages.

Local SEO: If you're a local business, optimizing for Local SEO can help you appear in location-based searches and Google Maps. This includes optimizing your Google My Business account, garnering positive reviews, and creating local content.

Understand JavaScript and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs): Google is getting better at crawling JavaScript, and JavaScript is becoming ever more prevalent in web development. This means that understanding how search engines interact with JavaScript is increasingly important, as is understanding PWAs.

Image and Visual SEO: With Google Lens and other advancements, visual search is more important than ever. Learn how to optimize images on your site (alt tags, file names, surrounding text, etc.) and how to leverage visual search platforms.

EAT (Expertise, Authority, Trustworthiness): EAT is becoming more important in Google's algo. Understand how it works--this includes quality of content, links, reviews, and more.

Featured Snippet Optimization: Featured snippets are a great way to get your content at the top of SERPs. Understand what type of content Google tends to use in snippets and target these in your strategy.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in SEO: With Google increasingly using AI and ML in their search algorithms (like RankBrain), understanding how these work is vital for SEOs. Services like Clearscope or Frase use AI to help with content optimization.

Podcast SEO: If you're producing podcasts, make sure they're discoverable in Google Search. You can create a dedicated web page for each podcast episode with show notes, an audio player, and a transcript.

Passage Indexing: Google announced "passage indexing", where they consider individual passages from a page as an additional ranking factor. This change underscores the importance of having clear, helpful information across all parts of a page.

Python for SEO: Learning how to use Python scripts can be very useful, especially for large sites. These scripts can help automate several SEO tasks like extracting data, keyword analysis, and finding broken links or orphaned pages.

Dynamic Rendering: Google recommends dynamic rendering for websites with heavy JavaScript. In this process, your server provides a static HTML version of your page to bots while providing the normal JavaScript version to users.

Effective use of canonical tags: Canonical tags can help solve duplicate content issues by specifying the "canonical version" of a web page. Understanding how to use these can be a vital part of your SEO strategy.

SEO for Single Page Applications (SPAs): Single Page Applications (usually built with JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue.js, Angular) are more difficult to optimize for search engines. Understanding how to effectively do SEO for SPAs can be a valuable skill.

Optimization for various Search Engine Result Page (SERP) features: Learning to optimize for various SERP features like People Also Ask, carousel results, image results and Shopping results can be beneficial.

Attribution Modeling: Understanding the role of different channels (including organic search) in your sales funnel and user journey will help you focus your efforts.

Privacy Laws and SEO: There has been a focus on privacy in recent years, with laws such as EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Understanding these laws is important for SEOs, as it will directly affect analytics, tracking, and personalization.

Site Migration SEO: Site Migrations (HTTP to HTTPS, domain name change, CMS change, site restructuring, etc) are risky but sometimes necessary processes. They can severely affect SEO if not done correctly, so learning about best practices for SEO during site migrations is vital.

Handling Google Penalties: Understand how to diagnose and recover from Google penalties, both manual actions and algorithmic penalties.

Structured Data and Schema Markup: Understanding how to use structured data and schema markup can help you enhance your search engine visibility and encourage search engines to produce rich results for your content.

Semantic SEO: It's about understanding and optimizing for topics, not just individual keywords. Google's algorithms are aiming to understand user intent and the context of content, making this an important area for SEO professionals.

Linkless Mentions: Search engines are getting increasingly good at connecting mentions without links to brand popularity, making it important to monitor and manage your brand's reputation, both on and off your own website.

Video SEO: Optimizing your videos correctly can help them rank in both Google and YouTube search results, increasing visibility.

Log File Analysis: By analyzing your server log files, you can see exactly how search engine bots are crawling and interacting with your site, allowing you to make adjustments to improve crawl efficiency.

Optimizing for Voice Search: As more people use digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, understanding and optimizing for voice search, including using more natural language and question-based queries, can provide extra opportunities to be found.

SEO for Apps (ASO): If you have an app, App Store Optimization can help you improve the visibility of a mobile app in an app store, which can help facilitate downloads and usage.

Core Web Vitals: These are a set of factors that Google considers important in a webpage's overall user experience. They include loading time (Largest Contentful Paint), interactivity (First Input Delay), and the stability of content as it loads (Cumulative Layout Shift).

Diverse Content Formats: Producing different kinds of content, such as infographics, video, podcasts, and interactive content, can help reach a wider audience and increase engagement, backlinks, and social shares.

Advanced On-Page SEO Techniques: Deeper knowledge of on-page techniques such as meta tag optimization, body text structuring, internal linking, URL structure optimization, and more can provide incremental improvements that compound over time.

Index Bloat Control: Ensuring that search engines are only spending time on the valuable, content-rich parts of your site is essential, especially for larger sites. Understand how to control crawling and prevent index bloat by using tactics such as robot files, XML sitemaps, and directives in your HTTP headers.

Multilingual and International SEO: Understanding how to correctly implement hreflang tags and optimize your site for different languages and regions can help you expand your audience globally.

SEO for Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP): AMP is a Google-backed project designed to make mobile pages super fast. Learning how to effectively use AMP framework and handle the SEO aspects of it would be beneficial.

Knowledge Graph Optimization: Knowledge Graphs provide structured and detailed information about a subject. By utilizing Schema markup, Google My Business listings, Wikipedia, Wikidata, and other strategies, you can help your brand or your clients' brand appear in this prominent SERP space.

Entity Optimization: Search engines are getting better at understanding entities - established things, concepts, or people that are widely recognized and discussed. Think about how your content can reference, include, or tie into these entities.

E-A-T Measures: Expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness are increasingly important guidelines for ranking well in Google. Develop strategies to demonstrate E-A-T for your content and website.

SERP Takeover Strategy: Understand not only how to rank in traditional organic results, but how to occupy additional real estate through images, videos, rich snippets, featured snippets, local pack listings, etc.

Mobile SEO: With Google's move to Mobile-first indexing, mastering mobile SEO is more important than ever. This includes understanding how to make websites fast and user-friendly on mobile devices.

Data-Driven Optimization: With increasing access to data, being able to use data effectively — from user behavior to website performance — is key. Learn how to use tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and various SEO tools to gather data and make informed decisions.

Machine Learning Algorithms: As touched on above, Google is increasingly relying on machine learning, like the RankBrain algorithm. Being aware of this and understanding how to optimize for it will be an essential skill.

Social Media SEO: Social platforms can drive significant traffic and help with link building. Therefore, understanding how SEO works with social media and optimizing accordingly can be beneficial.

XML Sitemap Optimization: Mastering the use of XML sitemaps can help search engines discover your content, understand your website's structure, and boost its visibility.

Server-side SEO: Things like server response time, content delivery network (CDN) usage, hosting location, etc., have minor but crucial impacts on your site's SEO.

SEO Automation: When dealing with large websites, automating various SEO processes using scripts, tools, and software can save time. Knowledge of Python, for example, can be very useful.

Disavow Links: Understanding when and how to disavow low-quality or spammy backlinks that are negatively impacting your site's ranking is a key skill that proficient SEO practitioners should possess.

Omnichannel SEO strategy: This strategy involves optimizing content for multiple channels - web, social media, mobile, offline stores, email marketing and so on, leading to a consistent and positive user experience.
