The Emetrics Summit is a conference on measuring the success of a website. It started in 2002 in Santa Barbara by Jim Sterne as a web analytics conference, but has expanded in subject matter to online marketing optimization. It has also expanded to San Francisco, Washington D.C., London and Germany.
Keynote speakers in the past have included representatives of Coke, Xerox, Amazon.com, Yahoo!, CBS, Dell, Microsoft, Ford, and Disney.
The subject matter has ranged from the simply technical (is log file analysis better that page tagging) to the organization (how do you get business people to understand that incredible value in web data?) to the holistic (how do you combine web performance monitoring and customer satisfaction with web analytics in order to get the Big Picture?).
The Emetrics Summit has continued to grow in size and was the spawning ground of the Web Analytics Association.
