Jimdo is a WYSIWYG web hosting service.[5] Jimdo offers JimdoFree, a free web hosting service, and JimdoPro, a premium service. Jimdo is operated by Jimdo GmbH, a Hamburg, Germany-based company.[1]
History
In July 2008 United Internet AG got a 30% stake in Jimdo GmbH.[1]
In 2009 Jimdo aimed to get users of Google and Yahoo! In April 2009, after Yahoo! announced that GeoCities is closing, Jimdo announced that former GeoCities users are welcome on Jimdo.[6] Jimdo started the "Lifeboat for GeoCities" to help users transition to Jimdo.[7] Jimdo offered 10% discounts to users who moved from Geocities and Google Page Creator who wanted to use the JimdoPro service.[8]
